Vision & Mission

As a relatively young institution, Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology (CEIT) conducts its activities and undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs under the Faculty of Education at the Middle East Technical University. The department’s general stature is governed and guided by the following overarching Vision, Mission and Values statements, which are revisited and revised periodically, if appropriate.

 

Vision
The Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology will be one of the world pioneers in the (a) integration of teaching and learning on a life-long, life-wide, and life-depth scale, (b) advancement of the knowledge base through research and scholarship, and (c) leadership in service and outreach in Instructional Technology (IT). Furthermore, the Department will be a world leader in preparing teachers and training professionals who can provide exemplary educational and instructional services both in primary and secondary schools to improve the lives of individuals and to advance our society in a changing, global world through the use of information technologies.

 

Mission
The primary mission of the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology is to prepare outstanding Information and Computer Technology (ICT) teachers to be employed in both public and private schools under the Ministry of National Education to provide technology education and to facilitate technology integration. Furthermore, the Department aims to prepare educators, scholars, and researchers and to advance the profession of Instructional Design by combining the science and art of teaching and learning, the repertoire of research methods rooted in various paradigms, the effective uses of technology and the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of instructional practices.
