The aim of Computer
Education & Instructional Technology’s is to give actual information, obtain
basic information and skills about profession and introduce the instructional
environments using new Technologies to computer teacher candidates who will
guide the primary and secondary education students in 2000s years.
Lessons that aims to
improve deficient materials to usage of information Technologies which, which is
developing speedily, in schools and make the instruction more effective, make
students get to know and use the Technologies such as; computer, internet,
multimedia, TV, video and projectors, in instruction. Thus, the 2000s years’
computer teachers will be grown up with the properties that knowing the
technology and using it in instruction effectively.
The another aim of the
department is developing methods, preparing instructional software for the
effective and abundant usage of the educational Technologies used in education
foundations, and bringing up staffs to develop the educational properties of
these software.
Mission
METU Faculty of Computer Education and Instructional
Technology (CEIT) Department, undergraduate and postgraduate level, effective
and adequate education by providing research, development and implementation
through effective, adequate, rich learning environment for creating knowledge
and teaching materials to choose how to work with the relevant information skill
enhancement will have worked in primary and secondary levels of qualified
teachers and teaching computer technologies to meet the needs of qualified
individuals to grow targets.
Instructor qualified in the field of
technology research, and the results of the research institutions and community
organizations about the spread of these results regarding the benefit of the
unit to ensure that social service and part of a healthy institution to continue
to work.
Education in the field of CEIT, stick to the
principle of being scientific to the education technology products and processes
as developments in the field in a format suitable education application
environments, humane, democratic, participatory, sharing a learning-teaching
environment by providing undergraduate and graduate students themselves as a
whole aims to develop .
CEIT in the field of research, real-life
problems in the science book makes its research findings and has received
national and international environment, the widespread use of new technologies
for making the publishing purposes. The problems of education in technology and
scientific research through the fuse to determine, the findings obtained to
contribute to national and international literature with the aim of publishing,
the application of research findings for purposes.
Services in CEIT, effectively share the importance and implementation university
education and research processes and results of the individuals and institutions
inside and outside the university. In this context, the Ministry of National
Education of the various units and take on the stage and technology education
with the whole process to ensure the integration of teachers, the private sector
in need of educational technology manpower in addition to raising the research
results shared with these institutions in Turkey by the technology education
process with for integration purposes will be to contribute to decisions. Other
universities in our country in the field of education technology in addition to
educating faculty, participate in-service training and consultancy services
offered. CEIT, its resources not only of its own faculty members and students,
individuals and institutions working in this field and the application opens the
use of face to face with individuals who will benefit from knowledge and
experience.
CEIT Department, established a new section of the METU
Faculty of Education. Therefore, our chapter healthy institutions to faculty
members to increase the license program, re-regulation and elective courses to
increase, post-graduate courses the number of educational technology field is
required in line with the increase, and students attribute to increase,
education technology in the field of development section of the program closely
applied to the section of physical infrastructure and development section aims
to create a culture of CEIT Department.
Vision
In METU, in Faculty of Education, Computer Education and
Instructional Technology Department aim to be leader in application, development
and research in instructional technology and area of edification of computer
teacher by providing innovative with an effective planning, rich undergraduate
and graduate programs, qualified academic staff members, an effective
education-instruction with updated physical infrastructure and social services.
CEIT
Department behaves by knowing the requirement of self evaluations in every
stages of updated education program and duration of planning. The threat which
exists or arises will tend to convert to their opportunities by the department.
It aim to develop intended to create rich learning environments by providing
application of instructional technologies in effective and productive ways with
academic staff and students in other departments of Faculty of Education. It
will improve to be an institution which proceeds shared works with other
educational institution and contributes to Turkish National Education towards
needs and conditions of era.

Department aim to be a department which educates academician or researcher not
only for universities in our country but also for foreign universities and to
work with not only Turkish National Education but also other institutions.

Technology Department?
CEIT
Department students will graduate as a professional who can know to reach data
sources and use these sources effectively, are away from memorizing things, have
scientific opinion, and researchers that are appropriate for needs of era owing
to have social environment and technological opportunities.
CEIT department graduates, are the first to
have the preferred qualifications in every business both professional careers,
and social integration in terms of the environment and the teamwork.

opportunities of METU CEIT Department Graduates?
People who are graduated from Computer Education and
Instructional Technology department can work as an academician in relevant
departments of universities, a teacher in private or public schools which are
dependent T.C. Ministry of National Education, an advisor, an advisor of
education program, an expert of examination and evaluation.
